Students in Hinckley - Big Rock Middle School FFA traveled with Ms. Zoey Dye to Richland Community College this past Friday for a Middle School FFA Conference! They played games, solved puzzles, and interacted with students across Illinois. This group is now well versed in FFA basics and leadership skills. They all agreed the best part of their day was getting to meet new friends!

Hinckley - Big Rock FFA Fundraiser!! Join us from 5pm-8pm on December 3rd at Culver's in Sugar Grove. Come out and enjoy a hot meal or delicious custard! Our FFA Chapter will receive 10% of sales to use towards providing students with opportunities this year. We will also have several student workers in attendance, so be sure to show your support!

November Dates for Hinckley - Big Rock Middle School FFA!
Here is one of our middle school students previewing a book to one of our fifth classes. She is sharing her love of reading!
Monday November 11th at HBR middle school we honor our veteran's. Our school will also be attending the Veteran's Day assembly at the HBR high school on Monday. Students will leave the middle school at 9:45 a.m. and return at approximately 11:00 a.m.
Penny Wars!!! Starting today through November 15th the competition is on! Everyday during lunch periods one of our members of student council will be in the cafeteria for students to add their coins.

The student council will be selling Halloween candy grams during lunch starting on Tuesday. You can buy candy apple suckers for 50 cents each or order a “Boo Bag” for $1. Boo Bags can be sent to friends or to yourself and will be delivered on Halloween during advisory. Please see Mrs. Burgh if you have any questions.
Reminder that there is a Middle School FFA Meeting tomorrow Thursday 10/17! It will be held in the Middle School Library at 7:45am. Dairy Foods CDE practice will also be in the same location at the same time!
There has been much excitement for Hinckley - Big Rock Middle School and High School FFA!
Friday September 27th, both middle school students and high school students teamed up to represent HBR FFA in the Homecoming Parade! Chickabitty Designs created a wonderful display of Tractors Throughout the Decades, putting an agricultural twist on this year’s theme.
Wednesday October 2nd, 4 freshmen and 1 sophomore traveled with Ms. Zoey Dye to Champaign, IL. During this trip, they visited Curtis Orchard & Pumpkin Patch where they examined the different varieties of apples and pumpkins grown in Central Illinois. They then toured Prairie Fruits & Creamery, which specializes in breeding and raising dairy goats, as well as producing fresh goat milk cheeses on location! For their final stop, they attended the FFA Greenhand Conference at the University of Illinois. This event is for first year members in FFA, challenging them in self-reflection, leadership, and meeting new friends.
Friday October 4th, HBR FFA hosted the Section 6 Land Use Career Development Event at Grunwald Farms Forest Preserve. All competing students enjoyed donuts provided by Kane County Farm Bureau, which has continued to show great support for Kane County FFA Chapters! This CDE tests student knowledge in identifying and evaluating various types of soils along with their uses. 7 Middle School students and 6 High School students competed in this event. The High School team placed 10th and the Middle School team placed 8th!
