Earlier this week, the Hinckley - Big Rock FFA Officer Teams had an officer retreat! They kayaked, bonded as a team, made S'mores, and set goals for the year at Shabbona Lake State Park. A huge thanks to the Honiotes Family and their crew, Kane County Farm Bureau, and Chickabitty Designs for making the day possible!

HBR's own Martin Ledbetter was at the White Sox Guaranteed Rate Field to be recognized for his 4th IHSBCA All state honor. Congratulations Martin! #RoyalPride

Today, students joined Mrs. Tracey Sanderson to set up posts in the Ag Plot! This year, Hinckley - Big Rock FFA is growing 35 varieties of soybean seed, planted on May 17th. Each year, students are encouraged to be a part of the process, from seed to harvest. The Ag Plot provides a learning opportunity to enhance agricultural knowledge and understand industry practices!

As you are completing registration for school, don't forget to register for sports too! All MS/HS athletes must have a completed sports registration to begin practices!

HBR is deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Jim Teckenbrock, the longtime Sports Director at WSPY Radio. Jim's unwavering dedication to local and regional high school sports, along with his distinctive voice and passion for broadcasting, made him a cherished figure in our community. His commitment to covering high school sports since the late 1990’s has had a great impact on countless athletes, families, and fans throughout the Fox Valley area. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable career.

This week, Hinckley - Big Rock FFA traveled down to Springfield for Illinois State FFA Convention! Students had a great time exploring the Lincoln Museum and exploring the Career/ Job Fair as well. Harry Nier received his State Degree on Wednesday and Abigail White competed in the Creed Speaking LDE on Tuesday. A big congratulations to these two on their accomplishments this year! We sent Alex Casanas and Gavin Pickert off with Royal Spirit yesterday. The boy's are headed to State for Track and will compete on Thursday! Good luck Royals!!

We had two state qualifiers in Boys Track! Alex Casanas made it to state for high jump with a state qualifying height (1.85m) and also qualified for the 400m. He finished 2nd with a state qualifying time (51.21). Gavin Pickert also jumped a state qualifying height (1.85m) and finished 5th. We can't wait to send our Royals off next week!! Way to go boys! 💙🤍
