We are proud to celebrate two outstanding teachers this week! Ben Mueller was honored with the 2026 DeKalb County Excellence in Education Award for high school, following his nomination by Matthew Badal. Amy Decker was awarded the Meta DeKalb Data Center Community Action Grant, which will support her work in empowering students to document community life and preserve local history while building skills in photography and digital design.

Our students and staff spent the morning working hard to help our schools and community during our annual Service Day! We had a carwash with proceeds going to TAILS in Dekalb that raised an amazing $375!! Student and staff groups worked on our grounds at the HS and ES, Plowman's Park and the Big Rock Forest Preserve to spread mulch and spruce up the our outdoor spaces. A group worked at the Hinckley Public Library to clean and shelve books and then headed to the ES to read to student groups and complete a bookmark craft. Finally, a team of our students created fidgets for Fox Valley Special Recreation.
All in all it was a great day of giving back. Thank you Royals for your time today and to the community for your support!

This past month has brought many precious moments to HBR FFA. We held our Annual Banquet and volunteered time working the Easter Egg Hunt at Plowman’s Park! A big thank you to Kane County Farm Bureau for helping our students receive their FFA Jackets! We also attended the Livestock Judging CDE and Public Speaking LDE, where multiple students placed in the top 10 for Section 6. Izabella Casanas will be our student representative moving on to District 2 Public Speaking! The Entrepreneurship class created a presentation and spoke to the Hinckley Business Association on ideas they have to improve our local community. Our Horticulture class has been diligently working to ensure our greenhouse is prepared for our upcoming Plant Sale in May! As we are nearing closer to Summer Break, HBR FFA is looking forward to what it will bring! Sign-up for IL State FFA Convention as well as FFA Camp! Deadline for Permission Slips are due on Push Coin Wednesday, April 15th. Please contact Ms. Zoey Dye or Mrs. Tracey Sanderson for more information.
