Yesterday’s opening session was a blast! HBR FFA had front row seats to Session 1 of the National FFA Convention. Students experienced opening ceremony, the entrance of the flags, and more! The highlight of the session was keynote speaker Scott McKain, who is focused on promoting leadership and philanthropy. He shared stories of working with several organizations including Uber and the Savannah Bananas! We were also featured on the National FFA social media!! As we begin Day 3, we are shifting gears from career and college expo to leadership based workshops and networking with students from FFA programs across the country! This afternoon we will attend Session 2 of the National FFA Convention to see national winner for Supervised Agriculture Experience Proficiencies and Career Development Events. In addition, we will also see Eastern Region Vice President Joey Nowotny’s retiring address titled “Don’t Stop Building”.

The building was filled with orange in honor of Unity Day!

As FFA students and advisors left early yesterday morning for Day 1 of the National Convention trip. After breakfast, we traveled to Hummel Livestock for a tour! Hummel Livestock is focused on breeding and showing award winning quality animals including goats, sheep, Savannah cats, Rhea birds, and Dingo crossbred dogs. Students got to see the operation up close and personal while learning about techniques used to ensure the animals are in pristine condition! Today we are excited for our first day at the National FFA Convention and Expo! Before attending opening session, students will spend the morning exploring the college and career expo, which showcases over 350 exhibitors!

REMINDER: Tomorrow we're wearing orange in honor of Unity Day! Let's see your best orange Royals and show our support for anti-bullying!
