As some in our community may have noticed, we are replacing the fence surrounding our early childhood playground at Hinckley-Big Rock Elementary School. This fence had deteriorated to the point where replacement was the best approach for the safety of our youngest students. We look forward to having this new fence in place for this school year to ensure that these students can engage in outdoor play and activities in a safe outdoor learning environment. We can't wait to welcome these students to the new school year!

Congratulations to Elias and London for their great races at the Special Olympics State meet this weekend! Elias placed 6th in the 400M run and London placed 2nd in the 50M run. Both athletes showed up and worked hard, leaving it all on the track. Coaches Zill, Rodgers, Porter and Davis are so proud of both of them!

Good luck to Elias Losiniecki and London Allen as they compete at state with our Royals Special Olympic team this weekend!
We are proud to announce that Hinckley-Big Rock CUSD 429 has officially earned the Project ADAM Heart Safe School Designation, a recognition awarded through Lurie Children’s Hospital. This achievement highlights our district’s commitment to the safety and well-being of every student, staff member, and visitor on our campuses.
This designation is more than a title — it represents the dedication, preparation, and teamwork of our community in creating an environment where lives can be saved through immediate and effective emergency response.
We want to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this happen:
The incredible Hinckley and Big Rock Fire Departments – your support and collaboration are invaluable.
Members of our Certified Emergency Response Teams – thank you for taking the time to train and prepare for emergencies.
And a very special shoutout to our amazing health office team – Nurse Emily and Paramedic Abby – for leading the charge, organizing training, and making sure every detail was covered.
It truly takes a team, and we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished together. Thanks for helping make HBR a safer place for everyone!

🚨 Safety Alert for Families 🚨
A dangerous TikTok trend, the "Chromebook Challenge," encourages students to insert objects into Chromebook ports to cause sparks or fires. This is extremely unsafe and can result in serious injury and damage. Please talk with your child about the risks and remind them to use technology responsibly. Thank you for helping us keep students safe.
